"Dr. Hasan Farooq received his B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore, Pakistan, in 2009, M.Sc. by Research degree in Information Technology from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Malaysia in 2014 and his Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Oklahoma, USA in 2018. Hasan’s doctoral dissertation presents a truly revolutionizing approach that transforms mobility from being a bane for the cellular industry into a blessing. Hasan has developed several truly novel methods to harness unprecedented intelligence from the network data that can be utilized for proactive dynamic network orchestration and optimization. His dissertation was awarded Gallogly College of Engineering Dissertation Excellence Award by University of Oklahoma in 2018 and IEEE GREEN ICT Best Solution Award Competition in 2017. He has contributed to international QSON project and several other NSF funded research projects in the domain of self-organizing networks for 5G and beyond. He has authored over 30 publications in high impact journals, book chapters and proceedings of IEEE flagship conferences on communications like GLOBECOM. Two provisional patents based on a novel solution developed by him have also been awarded. He interned at a 5G focused start-up PHAZR in 2017 for developing proactive SON solutions for mmWave networks. He was awarded twice for Best Research Presentations at University of Oklahoma. He is also recipient of Internet Society (ISOC) First Time Fellowship Award towards Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) 86th Meeting held in USA, 2013. He has mentored number of junior high school students as part of K-12 outreach program of NSF and his mentees have published research works in international peer reviewed IEEE conferences. He is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at OU conducting his research in area of big data empowered proactive self-organizing cellular networks focusing on intelligent proactive self-optimization and self-healing utilizing dexterous combination of machine learning tools, classical optimization techniques, stochastic modeling and data analytics.
